Hip-Hop pioniers Cypress Hill brengen met 'Elephants on Acid' hun negende album en de eerste in acht jaar. Het donkere, van fuzz doordrenkte en door Acid Rock geinspireerde album is het eerste album sinds 2001 dat volledig door Muggs, de sonische architect achter de klassiekers 'Cypress Hill' (1991) en 'Black Sunday' (1993), is geprodcueerd. In zijn woorden: “Psychedelic rock and stuff has been a big influence on me. I had the idea what the name of this record was going to be and then I just started building the whole sound around it. Just a whole sound like feeling like you’re high on hallucinogenic drugs – but you’re not on no drugs.” Het album klinkt dan ook als een slechte acid trip vol sitars, gitaren, drums en beelden uit de periode 1967-1972 inclusief Nuggets-ritmes en vinylkraakjes. Mooie bijkomstigheid is dat er vrijwel niets op het album is gesampeld, maar juist zelf ingespeeld met hulp van Egyptische straatmuzikanten.
