MTV Unplugged in New York is a live album by Nirvana, recorded on November 18, 1993, at Sony Music Studios in New York. It was first released in November 1994, more than six months after Kurt Cobain's death. The acoustic set includes covers such as David Bowie's The Man Who Sold the World, Lead Belly's Where Did You Sleep Last Night and three Meat Puppets songs performed together with the Kirkwood brothers. Original songs such as About a Girl and All Apologies also appear in acoustic form. The album topped the Billboard 200 and won the Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Performance in 1996.
