More personal than ever, is how DI-RECT themselves described "I: Keep The Fire On". On the album the rock band from The Hague sings about loss, the beauty of simplicity and comfort, as well as feeling supported by the people around you, children as an honest mirror and honouring those who are no longer here. It is the follow-up to the studio album "Sphinx". The singles "Won't Fall" and "My Friend" came out ahead of it, the latter described by the band as a song about watching a friend go through a difficult time. Alongside the core of Marcel Veenendaal, Spike van Zoest, Bas van Wageningen, Jamie Westland and Paul Jan Bakker, keyboardist Matteo Iannella and the band's horn section also play on the album.
