Paul Hardcastle was the self-titled album by British electronic musician and producer Paul Hardcastle. The record contains his best-known track "19", a synth-driven piece with sampled narration about the average age of American soldiers in the Vietnam War, which became a major international hit. It also features instrumental, jazz-funk-style tracks such as "Just for Money", "King Tut" and "Rainforest". Hardcastle combined early sampling, synthesizers and a slick production that was characteristic of the mid-1980s. The album shows his pioneering role in the electronic pop and synth-jazz of that period.
