Elvis Costello

Elvis Costello surfaced in 1977 between London pub rock and punk with My Aim Is True, and quickly proved to be a songwriter who refused to fit any category. With The Attractions he made a run of albums in the late seventies and early eighties that helped define new wave, from This Year's Model and Armed Forces to Get Happy!! and Imperial Bedroom. What followed was a career full of detours: country on Almost Blue, chamber music with the Brodsky Quartet on The Juliet Letters, collaborations with Paul McCartney and Burt Bacharach, and a return to the band sound with The Imposters. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003.
