For their sixth studio album Foo Fighters brought back Gil Norton, the producer of The Colour and the Shape. The 2007 result sets hard rocking tracks against acoustic ones, with The Pretender and Long Road to Ruin on one side and Ballad of the Beaconsfield Miners and Home on the other. Dave Grohl plays that last song alone at the piano. The album won a Grammy for Best Rock Album.
