The College Dropout is Kanye West's debut album, originally released in 2004. Before breaking through as an artist, West had already made his name as a producer, and it shows in the sped-up soul samples that anchor tracks like 'Through the Wire', 'All Falls Down' and 'Slow Jamz'. Between the raps he sets skits about education, ambition and faith, with 'Jesus Walks' as a striking gospel moment. The album won the Grammy for Best Rap Album and sits at number 74 on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
