Under the Pink originally appeared in 1994 as Tori Amos' second solo album, recorded in a hacienda in Taos, New Mexico and finished in Los Angeles. "Cornflake Girl" became its best-known single and helped the album enter the UK chart at number one; in the United States it reached number 12. "God" followed as a single early in 1994. The lyrics deal with how women treat one another, with faith, and with power, and the album closes on "Yes, Anastasia", a piece of just over nine minutes.
