Dream Theater, the band's self-titled twelfth studio album, was originally released in 2013. It was the first record drummer Mike Mangini helped shape from the earliest writing sessions, audible in the tight interplay with keyboardist Jordan Rudess and guitarist John Petrucci. Shorter, direct songs such as 'The Enemy Inside' sit alongside more expansive pieces, closing with the twenty-two-minute suite 'Illumination Theory' and its orchestral central section. Singer James LaBrie and bassist John Myung complete a line-up that pairs the band's progressive intricacy with strong melodies.
