Systematic Chaos is Dream Theater's ninth studio album, originally released in 2007 and the first the band made for Roadrunner Records. The two-part 'In the Presence of Enemies' frames the record: Part I opens and Part II closes, with the concise 'Constant Motion' and the narrative 'Repentance' in between. The band — LaBrie, Petrucci, Myung, Rudess and Portnoy — leans heavier and more direct here than on many of its predecessors, without letting go of the long, multi-part structures.
