Inside the Electric Circus was originally released in 1986 as the third studio album by W.A.S.P. Frontman Blackie Lawless switched from bass to rhythm guitar on this album, and newcomer Johnny Rod, from King Kobra, took over the bass parts. The album fitted the shock-rock image the band had built up from Los Angeles. Alongside original compositions such as 9.5.-N.A.S.T.Y., the album featured covers of I Don't Need No Doctor by Ray Charles and Easy Living by Uriah Heep. The circus theme returned in both the cover and the accompanying tour.
