Spirits And August Light / Steal The Light gathers early work by the Finnish melodic death metal band Omnium Gatherum. Spirits And August Light was the group's 2003 debut album, while Steal The Light is the 2002 EP that preceded it. The band combines the aggression and growls of death metal with melodic guitar harmonies and keyboards, a sound characteristic of the Finnish metal scene. Tracks such as Writhen, Deathwhite and It Shines show the layered, atmospheric approach Omnium Gatherum would develop further later on. This release brings the band's formative work together in one place.
