Latin Goes Ska was an instrumental ska album led by saxophonist Tommy McCook, together with members of the legendary Jamaican group The Skatalites. The recordings were made at the Treasure Isle studio in Kingston under the production of Duke Reid. McCook and his players turned Latin American and jazzy melodies into the swinging ska style that emerged in Jamaica in the early 1960s. Musicians such as Roland Alphonso, Jackie Mittoo and Don Drummond contributed to the recordings. The record is regarded as a classic of early Jamaican ska.
