After the triple album All Things Must Pass, George Harrison went for the opposite: sparse production and a small band, with Nicky Hopkins, Klaus Voormann, Jim Keltner and Gary Wright among the players. Living in the Material World, his fourth studio album, sets spiritual lyrics against very worldly matters, from the title track to "Sue Me, Sue You Blues" about the legal battles around the end of The Beatles. "Give Me Love (Give Me Peace on Earth)" went to number one in the United States, where the album topped the chart as well. Part of the proceeds went to the Material World Charitable Foundation, which Harrison set up on release. The album originally appeared in 1973 on Apple Records.
