Rank captures The Smiths on 23 October 1986 at the National Ballroom in Kilburn, London, during the tour around The Queen Is Dead. That night the band played as a five-piece, with Craig Gannon on second guitar alongside Johnny Marr, so songs such as The Queen Is Dead, Bigmouth Strikes Again and Still Ill hit harder and fuller than in their studio versions. Morrissey selected fourteen songs from the full concert, which BBC Radio 1 had broadcast earlier. The live album originally appeared in September 1988, more than a year after the band broke up, and reached number 2 in the United Kingdom. This edition is a 2-LP in a gatefold sleeve, with poster.
