Reputation was Dusty Springfield's first studio album in eight years and was originally released in 1990. The album grew out of her collaboration with the Pet Shop Boys, following their 1987 duet What Have I Done to Deserve This? Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe wrote and produced much of the album. Springfield's soul voice was combined with contemporary synthpop. Reputation, In Private and Nothing Has Been Proved, written for the 1989 film Scandal, were songs on the album. Reputation marked a commercial comeback for Springfield, reaching the top 20 of the UK Albums Chart.
