The Electric Lady is the second studio album by American singer Janelle Monáe, originally released in 2013. The album continues her conceptual Metropolis series with suites IV and V, centred on the android alter ego Cindi Mayweather. Monáe assembled an impressive list of guests: Prince on 'Givin Em What They Love', Erykah Badu on the single 'Q.U.E.E.N.', Solange on the title track, Miguel on 'Primetime' and jazz bassist Esperanza Spalding on 'Dorothy Dandridge Eyes'. The music moves from funk and psychedelic soul to R&B and pop. Themes of femininity, identity and emancipation run throughout the album. The Electric Lady entered the top five of the Billboard 200 and was released on Bad Boy Records and Monáe's own Wondaland.
