Shaolin Soul Episode 3 is the third instalment in the French compilation series Shaolin Soul, which gathers rare soul and funk tracks from the 1960s and 1970s. Many of these tracks served as samples for Wu-Tang Clan and related hip-hop artists from that scene. Episode 3 was originally released in 2014 through Parlophone and was reissued in 2018 through Because Music. The twenty tracks come from artists including The Jimmy Castor Bunch, Ann Peebles, The Dramatics, The Supremes, B.B. King and Dionne Warwick. The compilation thus offers an overview of the soul and funk tracks that underpinned RZA's production style.
