Rize of the Fenix, released in 2012, was the third album by Tenacious D, the comedic rock duo of Jack Black and Kyle Gass. The record was a response to the disappointing reception of their film The Pick of Destiny, which runs through the album as a running joke. With plenty of self-mockery, Black and Gass combine acoustic rock, hard-rock parody and absurd lyrics. Tracks such as the title song, "Low Hanging Fruit" and "Roadie" show their mix of serious musical skill and comedy. It is a typically over-the-top, humorous rock record in the style that made the duo known.
