Lament is the studio album Ultravox released in 1984, the fourth record by the line-up led by singer and guitarist Midge Ure. The British band paired their trademark synthesizer textures with a more polished, melodic production. The album yielded the hit singles Dancing With Tears In My Eyes and One Small Day, while the title track Lament also appeared as a single. Its lyrics and mood carry the romantic, faintly melancholic tone that defined the new wave and synth-pop of the era. Lament is regarded as one of the highlights of the group's Ure years.
