During the sessions for The Silent Enigma, singer Darren White left Anathema to form The Blood Divine, and guitarist Vincent Cavanagh took over vocals. The Liverpool band's second album thus became the first with Cavanagh as lead singer, and you can hear it: alongside the slow, heavy death-doom of the early years there is more melody, more clean singing and more room for atmosphere. Anathema produced the album together with Kevin Ridley. It was originally released in 1995 through Peaceville and took the first step towards the atmospheric sound of the band's later albums.

This edition is an LP.
