Dawn Of The Rats collects B-sides, demos and live recordings by The Boomtown Rats from the 1975–1979 period. The Irish band, led by singer Bob Geldof, broke through in the late 1970s with new wave and punk rock, with hits such as "Rat Trap" and "I Don't Like Mondays". This collection brings together early material, including live demos that had not previously appeared on vinyl. The recordings show the raw early years of the group. In this way the record offers a glimpse of the band's development before its major successes.
