This collection gathers the studio albums Charles Mingus recorded for Atlantic Records from 1973 onwards, up to the 1978 sessions that only appeared after his death in 1979: Mingus Moves, Changes One, Changes Two, Three or Four Shades of Blues, Cumbia & Jazz Fusion, Me, Myself an Eye and Something Like a Bird. These were the years in which he first worked with a settled core around George Adams, Don Pullen and Dannie Richmond, and then increasingly with larger line-ups and outside arrangers. Sue's Changes and Duke Ellington's Sound of Love, two of his best known later compositions, are here, as is the near half-hour title suite of Cumbia & Jazz Fusion. A separate disc holds outtakes, including previously unreleased takes of Big Alice, The Call and Music for Todo Modo. Rhino compiled the set and added a booklet with notes by Andrew Homzy.
