In the End was finished around the voice of a singer who never heard the album herself. Dolores O'Riordan died on 15 January 2018, after recording a set of demos for a new album with guitarist Noel Hogan. Over the following year Noel Hogan, Mike Hogan, and Fergal Lawler worked those recordings into eleven songs with producer Stephen Street, among them 'All Over Now', 'Wake Me When It's Over', and the title track. The album originally appeared on 26 April 2019 on BMG and is the eighth and final studio album by The Cranberries.
