Burned was originally released in September 1995 as the only album by Electrafixion, the band Ian McCulloch and Will Sergeant formed in 1994 after the first break-up of Echo & the Bunnymen. Augmented by bassist Leon de Sylva and drummer Tony McGuigan, the group played a sound rawer and heavier than the Bunnymen's work, with prominent fuzz guitars. The album was partly produced by Mark 'Spike' Stent and reached number 38 on the British album chart. Singles and EPs such as Zephyr, Lowdown and Sister Pain preceded the release. Electrafixion ceased to exist in late 1996 when McCulloch and Sergeant decided to revive Echo & the Bunnymen.
