Elvis Back in Memphis grew out of the same 1969 American Sound sessions as From Elvis in Memphis, again with producer Chips Moman and the Memphis Boys as the backing band. The material first appeared as the studio half of the double album From Memphis to Vegas / From Vegas to Memphis and was only later given a standalone release. Among its tracks are 'Inherit the Wind', 'Stranger in My Own Home Town' and 'You'll Think of Me' — soul- and country-tinged recordings that stay close to the mood of his Memphis comeback. The album originally dates from 1970.
