The Genuine Imitation Life Gazette is a studio album by the American pop group The Four Seasons, released in 1969. With this record, the group around singer Frankie Valli departed from the hit formula of earlier singles such as Sherry and Big Girls Don't Cry and made a concept album with influences from psychedelia and art pop. The lyrics were written by singer-songwriter Jake Holmes and address social themes of late-1960s America, including the generation gap, politics and suburban life. Group member Bob Gaudio, co-writer of many of their earlier hits, produced the album and wrote the music together with Holmes. Songs such as Saturday's Father, American Crucifixion Resurrection and Genuine Imitation Life showcase the album's experimental direction. Commercially, the album fell short of the group's earlier successes.
