Damon Albarn recorded The Fall on his iPad, in 32 days during the North American leg of the Plastic Beach tour in October 2010. Every track is named after a place or a moment on the road, from 'Phoner To Arizona' to 'Seattle Yodel', and the sound is sketch-like to match: small electronic loops, apps used as instruments and few guests. Bobby Womack sings on 'Bobby In Phoenix', and Mick Jones and Paul Simonon of The Clash can be heard as well. The fourth Gorillaz studio album originally appeared on Christmas Day 2010 as a free download for the fan club and reached shops in April 2011. This edition is an LP on translucent green vinyl, pressed for Record Store Day in an edition of 4,500 copies.
