For the 2001 DreamWorks animated film Shrek, Harry Gregson-Williams and John Powell split the work: Gregson-Williams wrote the fairy tale side and the opening theme, while Powell took on the big action sequences. It was their third collaboration, after Antz and Chicken Run. The score album was originally released in 2001 and stands apart from the song compilation carrying "All Star" and "I'm a Believer". For the film's twenty-fifth anniversary the score was given newly drawn artwork, with the main characters on side A and Shrek and Fiona on side B.
