Can't Touch Us Now was the first Madness album without Chas Smash, who left the band in 2014. The songs are set up as short London stories: Mr. Apples follows a respectable man with a double life, Pam the Hawk is about a beggar the band passed on the street for years, and Herbert sketches a small-time crook. Horns, organ and music hall remain central, with the occasional turn towards soul. The eleventh studio album originally appeared in 2016.
