Out of Time was the album that broke R.E.M. to a worldwide audience. Peter Buck wrote Losing My Religion on the mandolin, an instrument he had only just picked up, and that song became the band's biggest hit. Kate Pierson of The B-52's sings on Shiny Happy People and Me In Honey, and rapper KRS-One opens the album on Radio Song. The seventh studio album originally appeared in 1991, reached number one in both the United States and the United Kingdom, and won three Grammys, including Best Alternative Music Album. The band chose not to tour behind it. This edition is a 3-LP, an anniversary edition with two LPs of demos.
