Thin Lizzy is the debut album by the Irish rock band of the same name, originally released in 1971. At the time the band consisted of singer and bassist Phil Lynott, drummer Brian Downey, and guitarist Eric Bell. The album reveals a young group blending blues rock, folk, and early hard rock, with songs like The Friendly Ranger at Clontarf Castle, Honesty Is No Excuse, and Look What the Wind Blew In. The poetic lyrics of Lynott, who later broke through worldwide with Whiskey in the Jar and The Boys Are Back in Town, are already clearly present.
