Strange Little Girls originally appeared in September 2001 and consists entirely of covers of songs written by men. Tori Amos gave each track a female character of her own invention, which she also acted out in the accompanying photography. The sources sit far apart: Eminem's "'97 Bonnie & Clyde", Depeche Mode's "Enjoy the Silence", Neil Young's "Heart of Gold", and Slayer's "Raining Blood" all share one album. An expanded version with four additional recordings followed in 2026.
