Possessed is Venom's fourth studio album and the last with guitarist Jeffrey 'Mantas' Dunn before his first departure from the band. The album was originally released in 1985 on Neat Records, with Cronos on bass and vocals and Abaddon on drums. The setup is more direct than that of At War with Satan: thirteen short songs with no long suite, from the opening Powerdrive through Satanachist and the title track to the closer Too Loud (For the Crowd). The playing is raw and unpolished, and it was precisely that rawness the first generation of black and thrash metal bands took over.
