On 23 February 1984 Willie Nelson played the Nippon Budokan in Tokyo with Family, his first performance in Japan and the opening night of a five-city tour. The show was recorded and filmed, but at the time appeared only as a laserdisc in Japan and stayed out of print for decades afterwards. In 2022 Legacy Recordings finally issued the recording: 27 songs running from Whiskey River and Good Hearted Woman through Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain to Georgia on My Mind, Stardust, and On the Road Again. The band is his sister Bobbie Nelson on piano, Paul English on drums, Grady Martin on guitar, Jody Payne on guitar and vocals, Bee Spears on bass, and Mickey Raphael on harmonica. This edition is a 2-LP, released for Record Store Day Black Friday.
