Communion was the debut album by Years & Years, originally released in 2015 after the band around Olly Alexander won the BBC Sound of 2015 poll. The album moved within electropop and synth-pop, with influences from house and r&b. The single King reached number one on the UK Singles Chart, and Desire, Shine and Eyes Shut were also part of the album. The lyrics dealt with love, desire and vulnerability, often from a queer perspective. Communion itself also reached number one in the United Kingdom.
