Dit zelfgetitelde livealbum uit 1971, algemeen bekend als "Skull & Roses" naar de hoesillustratie, was het tweede officiële concertalbum van Grateful Dead. Verschillende nummers kregen hier hun bekende live-vorm, waaronder "Bertha", "Wharf Rat", "Playing in the Band", "Me and Bobby McGee" en de medley "Not Fade Away / Goin' Down the Road Feeling Bad". Het album introduceerde bij een breder publiek de manier waarop de band op het podium werkte.
