Rock in Rio bundelt het optreden van Iron Maiden op 19 januari 2001 op het gelijknamige festival in Rio de Janeiro, waar de band voor een enorm publiek speelde tijdens de Brave New World-tournee. Het livealbum verscheen oorspronkelijk in 2002, kort na de terugkeer van Bruce Dickinson en Adrian Smith. De set combineert nieuw materiaal als 'The Wicker Man', 'Ghost of the Navigator' en 'Brave New World' met klassiekers als 'The Trooper', 'The Number of the Beast' en 'Run to the Hills'.
