The Best Of Everything is de eerste verzamelaar die de hele loopbaan van Tom Petty overziet: het werk met de Heartbreakers, zijn soloalbums en Mudcrutch staan naast elkaar, achtendertig nummers lang. De uitgave uit 2019 bevat twee opnames die niet eerder waren uitgebracht, het autobiografische For Real en een alternatieve versie van het titelnummer waarin een couplet terugkeert dat op Southern Accents was weggelaten. Cameron Crowe schreef het essay in het boekje en alle nummers zijn opnieuw gemastered vanaf de oorspronkelijke studiobanden. Deze uitgave is een 4-lp.
