Strijdlustig was originally released in 2002 on EMI and turned out to be André Hazes' final studio album; he died two years later. As so often with Hazes, most of the repertoire consists of Dutch adaptations of foreign material, this time by Charles Aznavour, Gary Moore and Marc Anthony among others. Carel Kraayenhof plays bandoneon on "Bloed, zweet en tranen", a song that years later became a fixture around the Dutch national football team. The album also holds "Papa", "Ik hou van jou" and "Ik ben weer terug", the last of these about someone returning to society after addiction. This edition is an LP on gold vinyl.
