Vol. 4 originally came out in 1972 as Black Sabbath's fourth studio album. It was recorded in Los Angeles and self-produced by the band, during a period of heavy drug use — the record was even initially meant to be titled 'Snowblind'. Alongside the pounding 'Supernaut' and 'Snowblind' sits the piano ballad 'Changes', which showed a different side of the group. With Osbourne, Iommi, Butler and Ward, the band broadened its sound here with strings and mellotron.
