Donna Summer

Donna Summer was the face of disco. With producers Giorgio Moroder and Pete Bellotte she recorded the seventeen-minute 'Love to Love You Baby' (1975) in Munich, and two years later 'I Feel Love', a track built entirely from synthesizers apart from her voice and the kick drum, and one that shaped decades of dance music. The late seventies brought 'Last Dance', 'Hot Stuff', 'Bad Girls', and 'On the Radio'. In the eighties she worked with Quincy Jones (Donna Summer, 1982), scored with 'She Works Hard for the Money', and returned to the charts with Stock Aitken Waterman ('This Time I Know It's for Real', 1989). She won five Grammys, died in 2012, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013.
