Elephunk is the album that took the Black Eyed Peas from an alternative hip-hop group from Los Angeles to an act topping charts around the world. It is the third studio album by will.i.am, apl.de.ap and Taboo, and the first to feature Fergie. She joined during the work on "Shut Up", when the group realised the song called for a female voice. The album mixes hip-hop with funk, Latin and electronic beats, with singles such as "Where Is the Love?", "Shut Up" and "Hey Mama". In the United States, Elephunk was certified double platinum by the RIAA. The album was originally released in 2003 on A&M and Interscope.
