After the success of his major-label debut, The Marshall Mathers LP originally came out in 2000, and it would set the tone in American pop culture for years. It keeps shifting between the character Slim Shady and Marshall Mathers himself: 'Stan', built on a sample of Dido's 'Thank You', tells the story of a fan losing his grip, while 'The Way I Am' and the title track deal with the pressure of sudden fame. Dr. Dre, Mel-Man and the Bass Brothers handled the production. It sold 1.76 million copies in the United States in its first week, at the time the biggest opening for a solo artist, and won the Grammy for Best Rap Album.
This edition is a 2-LP on black vinyl, the anniversary edition marking 25 years of The Marshall Mathers LP, with two live recordings from the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards added.
