Lana Del Rey

Lana Del Rey, born Elizabeth Grant, arrived with "Video Games" and the album Born to Die (2012): cinematic strings, slow beats, and lyrics steeped in American mythology, Hollywood glamour, and loss. On Ultraviolence (2014) she traded that gloss for the rough guitar sound of producer Dan Auerbach, giving her a first number one in both the United States and the United Kingdom. Honeymoon, Lust for Life, and Norman Fucking Rockwell! (2019) followed, the last of which was nominated for Album of the Year and Song of the Year at the Grammys. From Chemtrails Over the Country Club and Blue Banisters onwards her work leaned towards piano, folk, and Americana, up to Did You Know That There's a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd (2023).
