The title refers to Baja California, where Chris Isaak surfed by day and played with his band at night, but Baja Sessions was actually recorded at Coast Recorders in San Francisco. Isaak's sixth studio album is largely acoustic and consists mostly of covers of classics, such as Roy Orbison's Only the Lonely, South of the Border, Return to Me and the Hawaiian Sweet Leilani. He also re-recorded a few of his own earlier songs in the same relaxed style. The producer was Erik Jacobsen. The album was originally released in 1996 on Reprise Records and went gold in the United States.

This edition is an LP.
