HITnRUN Phase One originally appeared in September 2015, at first only through the streaming service Tidal. Prince made the album with producer Joshua Welton, who handled the electronic side: tight drum programming, short samples and sharp synths underneath Prince's guitar and vocals. Rita Ora and Lianne La Havas contributed guest appearances. With tracks such as 'Hardrocklover', '1000 X's & O's' and 'Ain't About 2 Stop', it is one of the last two albums Prince released in his lifetime; Phase Two followed at the end of that same year. The album did not reach vinyl until 2026.
