Jangling guitars, four-part harmonies and tightly written choruses: on Different Light the Los Angeles band of Susanna Hoffs, Vicki and Debbi Peterson and Michael Steele moved from garage pop towards radio pop. The Bangles' second studio album was originally released in 1986 on Columbia Records. "Manic Monday", written by Prince under the pseudonym Christopher, became the first big hit, and "Walk Like an Egyptian" went on to top the American charts. "If She Knew What She Wants" and "Following" also appear on the album, on which the four members take turns singing lead.
