My Chemical Romance

My Chemical Romance formed in New Jersey in 2001, after singer Gerard Way decided to start a band in the wake of the September 11 attacks. The raw debut I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love (2002) earned them an underground following, and Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge pushed the group into the American mainstream in 2004. The Black Parade followed in 2006, a concept album about a dying patient performed by the band in the guise of a fictional marching band; the single Welcome to the Black Parade became their first UK number one. The more colourful Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys (2010) remained their last studio album. The band split in 2013, reunited in 2019, and played The Black Parade in full again in 2025 and 2026, around the album's twentieth anniversary.
