Stanley Road, named after the street in Woking where Paul Weller grew up, originally appeared in May 1995 on Go! Discs and became his biggest success: a UK number one and multi-platinum. The third solo album leans harder on soul and r&b than its predecessors, with Hammond organ and strings running through The Changingman, You Do Something To Me and Broken Stones. Brendan Lynch co-produced for the third time, Steve Winwood plays organ and Noel Gallagher guitar on the cover of Dr. John's I Walk On Gilded Splinters. The collage on the front is by Peter Blake, who designed the sleeve of Sgt. Pepper.
